1. Data we collect
Account data: username, email, password hash
Profile data: name, hobbies, goals, gender/pronouns, lifestyle info (optional)
Location data: approximate or precise location used for pod discovery
Content: chat messages, media, pod participation data
Verification data: photo verification images and results
Device and usage data: app usage events, logs, and diagnostics
Notifications: device push token (FCM/APNs)
2. How we use your data
We use your data only to operate, secure, and improve PodsOffline: to create and maintain your account, enable pod discovery and matching, provide messaging and group coordination, verify identity, prevent fraud, send service updates, and analyse performance where optional analytics are enabled.
3. Legal basis (GDPR)
Where GDPR applies, we process data under: Contract (to provide the service), Consent (for optional analytics and marketing), and Legitimate interests (security and fraud prevention).
4. Sharing and processors
We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data only with trusted service providers: Firebase (messaging and notifications), DigitalOcean Spaces (media storage), and Google and Apple (app distribution and platform services).
5. Retention
Account data: retained until account deletion, subject to legal requirements
Chat and media: retained until deletion by you or removal by us
Audit logs: retained for a limited period for security and compliance
Pending registrations: automatically deleted after the verification window
6. Your rights
You have the right to access, export, correct, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent for optional processing. Contact connect@podsoffline.com to exercise any of these rights.
7. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and other safeguards to protect your information. No method of electronic storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable precautions.
8. International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where we transfer data across borders, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
9. Cookies and tracking
We use limited cookies and similar technologies to support essential website and app functionality. Optional analytics tools are used only where appropriate consent has been provided. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser or device settings.
10. Child safety
We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in any form. We maintain systems to detect, report, and remove prohibited content, cooperate with law enforcement, and report to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) where required. 11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the app or by email before they take effect.
